bio
The Blue Stone Society plays rock’n’roll with a heavy nod to the blues and also has influences of country, ska, funk, americana, polka, and much more. The band has a style that sounds like a combination of G. Love, Eric Clapton, Tom Waits, and the Black Keys.
The band came to be as frontman Mark Phelps launched a solo project in 2006 and recruited Danny Breiner, former drummer for the Force, for the ensuing EP entitled the Land of the Blind. Former 33 Days guitarist (and Mark’s old bandmate) Ricky Burdette was then added to round out the band, and they played as a trio for years. Over the course of 2008-09, the trio recorded their first full-length album, Our Day Has Yet To Come, and released it under the name the Blue Stone Society. Shortly before the release in 2009, former Almost Russell bass player Chanse Horton was added to make the modern lineup.
